Working as a stylist at Ouidad for over twelve years, I’ve seen so many different types of hair.  I’m also a certified salon trainer and have been teaching other stylists Ouidad’s methods such as the Carve & Slice cutting technique for the past five years.  It is a privilege to see that stylists that have been in this business longer than I have are still excited to learn our techniques for curly hair.  To have them come out of our classes with the knowledge of how to cater to curly hair is such a wonderful feeling.  The “students” leave feeling excited and empowered to go home and cut and style their curly hair clients.  They get to see in our classes and hands-on training with models how curly hair can be so beautiful if it’s cut and styled well.  Experiencing this makes my job worthwhile.

My Odyssey Ended When I Landed at Ouidad

I have been in the hair industry for over 20 years.  I started my career at a very young age helping out at a relative’s salon.  As a young hairdresser, I mostly traveled through Europe where I had the privilege of working with some of the most iconic hairdressers.  In search of bigger dreams, I decided to come to NYC which presented me with the opportunity to travel throughout the United States.  As an Educator for various companies, I’ve shared my expertise in cut and color for the past 15 years.

It wasn’t until about eight years ago that I decided to start a new journey specializing in curly hair.  My odyssey ended when I landed at Ouidad!  It wasn’t just me. My clients were amazed with the efficiency and clarity of the whole Ouidad philosophy.  It’s as if I were re-born.  Clients I’ve been doing for over ten years were telling me things like this:

“This is the best my hair’s ever looked!”

or

“This color is better than anything we did in the past, thank you!”

What has made most of the difference were the products and the new approach I had toward clients’ luscious locks after getting a few tips and new techniques from Ouidad and her team.  Now that I am using the “Rake and Shake” method for styling and “Carving and Slicing” for cutting, my client’s hair has never looked better.

Ouidad often talks about the right cut, the right stylist, and working with your curlsStop fighting Mother Nature! Learn to work with your waves and you’ll learn to love your curly hair.” Ouidad tells us that you’ve got to let those curls shine!

According to recent Ouidad surveys, we overwhelmingly agree that the right cut is key – 92% in fact said that it was very important. Interesting results, since 78% of us also felt their stylist didn’t really understand their curls.

So what happens when 97% of us feel our stylists could do better? Sadly, it has left 89% of us in tears at least once due to a bad haircut. Ouidad to the rescue! No one with beautiful natural curls should be in tears because of a badly executed cut and style – not when Ouidad has proven her Rake and Shake technique.

Talk to your stylist – before the cut – and if he/she doesn’t understand your curls, then step away from the scissors and find a curl expert, like Ouidad!
