It’s Father’s Day, and curly haired actor and dad Will Smith is making our day here at Ouidad.  The Grammy Award winning actor, rapper and producer boasts a fantastic career that includes over thirty films. He has been called “the most powerful actor on the planet.” Well, you just have to add  “some of the most powerful tresses on the planet” too!  And like a good dad he is passing down his curly ways to his children, who are following in their father’s performing footsteps and adding gorgeous curls and twists!

Smith’s two youngest curly kids – Jaden and Willow – can also list a few on screen successes of their very own. Jaden was his father’s co-star in the poinent film The Pursuit of Happyness, and is now the star of the upcoming film The Karate Kid.  And Willow appeared as Smith’s daughter in I Am Legend and was also in the hit movie Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.

This only proves that Will Smith and his family are great at giving us fans a variety of entertainment options. And while Smith often wears his curls short, we’re glad to see his kids raising the bar on the curly look with style options with true staying power!

Diego Forlán, Uruguay. Despite an injury scare while training just days before the start of World Cup, Forlán and his curls were able to bounce back and finish the session. Will his blond waves be able to lead Uruguay to a World Cup victory?

For those of us who follow the sport, Hargreaves and his gorgeous curls are already on our radar as a star midfielder for Manchester United, Beckham’s former team.  Hargreaves missed some of the 2008-2009 season due to injury, but he has been back in action since September of 2009.

As we all know, having curly hair is something special to celebrate. However, our Ouidad surveys show that 74% of us have been teased about our locks, so most of us are no strangers to a little “curl adversity”. Ouidad herself went through it!

Luckily, with maturity and the changing image of curls in the media, most of us have grown to accept and love our locks and tresses. When asked what one word describes your personality with curls 27% say sexy and 25% feel that curls make them individualistic.   It’s true, you’re not the only one who feels that way!
