You wouldn’t let just anyone wielding a pair scissors cut your hair, would you? No way! Ouidad knows that the importance of choosing a trained hair stylist cannot be overstated. And, if you’re fortunate enough to have a head of generous curls, it’s even more important to choose a stylist trained in cutting and styling curly hair.

The good news is that more and more stylists are getting this type of training, thanks to Ouidad, the undisputed Queen of Curls!

Ouidad takes curl education seriously, whether she’s on the road, or hosting trainees at one of her flagship salons. With facilitating sessions for stylists from New York to Santa Monica (and anywhere in between) Ouidad provides stylists with a thorough education about every aspect of cutting, styling and caring for curly hair.

So, whether you need a trim, a whole new style (via Ouidad’s famous and trademarked Carving & Slicing technique) or just some advice about products for curls, our Ouidad-trained stylists are the only way to go!

It’s hard to believe that we will soon say goodbye to summertime fun. But before the sweltering summer season comes to a close, Ouidad is here to help you and your ‘krly kids’ endure these dog days of August with fuss-free and frizz-free ‘krls!’ So whether it’s camp, sleepovers, or an extended visit to grandma’s, here is the easiest ways to keep your kid’s delicate curlicues cute and under control.

Day after hot day of sun challenges those delicate curls that have already withstood so many weeks of outdoor fun. Well, our KRLY Kids Collection is just the ticket. It caters to your kid’s delicate curls, and includes:

No Time for Tears Shampoo, to gently and thoroughly cleans without irritating eyes;

No More Knots Conditioner (a 2-in-1 detangling rinse and leave-in conditioner),

And our Pump and Go Styling Gel, that fights humidity-induced frizz.

It’s a simple three step process that gets even more efficient when you replace all the tops with our Hand Pump Dispenser, (so easy your krly kid can get the hang of the routine on their own)!

No matter how hectic summer vacation has been, don’t get all wound up over your kids’ hair care routine. Keep in mind that curls, no matter how big or small, do not require a big time commitment. Let Ouidad take the hassle out of your child’s curly care routine, so you both can enjoy the final days of fun before school starts again!

Soft, shiny, healthy hair; isn’t that what everyone wants? Whether your hair is short or long, straight or curly, thick or fine, everyone wants gleaming healthy hair. If your hair gets a bit “under the weather” – not looking or feeling as good as it might – it could be a call for Ouidad’s special Deep Treatment! Create a renaissance of soft and supple beauty in your curls.

12-minute Ouidad Deep Treatment feeds and strengthens your thirsty curls with a combination of essential amino acids, proteins and moisturizers. Because your curly hair loses nutrients and moisture, frequent deep conditioning is necessary to replenish strength and allow each strand of hair to regain weight and body, minimizing the tendency for frizz. All hair needs TLC from time to time, and curls even more so and usually at least once a month. Watch this great how to video to learn more:

Click here to view the embedded video.

If hair is damaged or particularly dry, deep treatment is recommended every other week. Help your curls soak up all the conditioning and hydration it needs. Take 12-minutes out for yourself and for your hair–both will be happy you did. Now get out there and flaunt those luscious locks!

While Ouidad knows that Miley Cyrus and her career turns have taken some controversial twists, we’re still more interested in the twists and turns of her fabulous curls! Miley, best known as Hannah Montana of Disney Channel fame, is a naturally straight-haired girl. But from the looks she sports on stage, screen and on the red carpet, it’s obvious that she loves playing with curls. Miles and Miles of curls…and they look fabulous on her!

On stage Miley’s look is both youthful and edgy. Her curls are typically long and loose and parted in the middle. And on the red carpet, they are simply stunning: at the 2009 Golden Globes, Miley looked pretty as a princess, in a white gown with her flowing layers of curly waves.

Miley’s curly hairstyle is also a fantastic hairstyle for girls and tweens to emulate! For girls without natural curls, the style can be accomplished with a curling iron and some spray gel like KRLY Kids Pump and Go Spray Gel. To help the curls last, Ouidad’s Styling Mist is just the plan.

And for those cute naturally curly girls and tweens out there … lucky you! You already have your gorgeous locks! Now put on some music and dance!

Whether you’re planning a visit to the photography studio or you’re coifing your kids’ coils for picture day at school, capturing that crown of fabulous curls makes for a memorable photo. But sometimes the process can be hit or miss; taming unpredictable young curls sometimes can make for a day of anxiety-filled primping for the parent. After all, how can you be sure that all those delicate curls will hold their definition through the excitement of the day?

Well, if you’re a Ouidad fan, you already know the answer to that question. The key to a manageable curly mane is to moisturize. So for gently pacify your child’s fiercest frizzes use Krly Kids No More Knots Conditioner. The two-in-one formula doubles as a detangling rinse and leave-in conditioner, calming frizz and fly-a-ways that static can cause.

Krly Kids No More Knots Conditioner can also be used as a spot treatment to keep kids individual ringlets soft, smooth, frizz-free, and picture perfect for the big day. And that’s just the kind of curly memory you’ll be proud show off!

I have been in the hair industry for over 20 years. I started my career at a very young age helping out at a relative’s salon. As a young hairdresser, I mostly traveled through Europe where I had the privilege of working with some of the most iconic hairdressers. In search of bigger dreams, I decided to come to NYC which presented me with the opportunity to travel throughout the United States. As an Educator for various companies, I’ve shared my expertise in cut and color for the past 15 years.

It wasn’t until about eight years ago that I decided to start a new journey specializing in curly hair. My odyssey ended when I landed at Ouidad! It wasn’t just me. My clients were amazed with the efficiency and clarity of the whole Ouidad philosophy. It’s as if I were re-born. Clients I’ve been doing for over ten years were telling me things like this:

“This is the best my hair’s ever looked!”

or

“This color is better than anything we did in the past, thank you!”

What has made most of the difference were the products and the new approach I had toward clients’ luscious locks after getting a few tips and new techniques from Ouidad and her team. Now that I am using the “Rake and Shake” method for styling and “Carving and Slicing” for cutting, my client’s hair has never looked better.

While obsessive housewife Bree Hodge might wear her shocking red hair straight on Desperate Housewives, we’ve noticed the real-life Marcia Cross prefers showing her perfectly glamorous head of curls, when taking walks down the red carpet!

Born with naturally red hair, we love it that Marcia’s personal stylist has a tendency to keep the flat iron under lock and key before big events. Curls not only give her hair lift and body, but also reflect the confidence that this curly 48-year-old has in abundance!

Thankfully, her fabulous red carpet ringlets are easy to achieve without a lot of work. Our PlayCurl Volumizing Foam helps boost hair volume while creating long-lasting shine and manageability. No need to worry about flyaway’s because our volumizing foam keeps your curls under control!

Now, if we could just talk Marc Cherry, creator of Desperate Housewives, into giving curls a chance on Mrs. Hodge!

Because many have elaborate parties that are comparable to a wedding you know that family, friends, and even a photographer will be present for the big day.

So it’s important to be picture-perfect. This means fabulous Quinceañera curls!

You know that Ouidad has some important tips at the ready, for those camera-ready curls:

Planning - Chances are, you’ve been thinking about how you want those curls styled for quite some time! Make sure you consult with your stylist ahead of time to ensure he or she knows how to work with a curly ‘do.

Product - The Ouidad products you use can make or break your hair day. Therefore, take the time to think about what will make your curls shiny and healthy.

Confidence - There’s nothing more beautiful than a Quinceañera with that “Ouidad confidence,” so don’t forget to flaunt the gorgeous hair you’ve got!

Wavy, spiraled, kinky—you name it, curly hair success stories are always big news here at Ouidad. So we are thrilled that the publication Big Apple Parent turned the tables on us, and captured the story of Ouidad’s fabulous success, published in their Mom Biz section in July. The piece shows Ouidad the passionate businesswoman, the inspiring cancer survivor and loving mother.

It was in New York City twenty-five years ago that Ouidad laid the groundwork for her curly hair empire, starting the country’s first hair salon expressly focused on curly hair. She soon found out that carving her extraordinary place in the hair care industry would challenge her both as an entrepreneur, and as a mom. Her pioneering curly hair philosophy helped us all to find our own curl confidence.

Now Ouidad reigns as the “Queen of Curls” with flagship salons on both coasts, and her patented Carve & Slice and Rake & Shake cutting and styling techniques. But her passions don’t stop there, as Ouidad has also given back so much to society.

Now there’s no stopping her as the recent launch of Sephora all around the country—and Ouidad’s goal to certify 100 salons this year—proves. The future is bright, and after all, there’s no business like curl business!
