Thankfully we have some tips on how to keep those waves in place; just like the curly-clad Scarlett Johansson who plays an undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, in the huge hit movie Iron Man 2.

Need some tips to get your curls to look as amazing as Scarlett’s? Before you head out in to the night to fight crime, try this:

After shampoo & conditioning, use Ouidad’s styling gel or cream; take small one inch sections of your hair and make small twists, and diffuse dry.

Keep twists loose while you work. The smaller the sections for this style, the cleaner and tighter the curl.

While they’re all beautiful, not all curls are created equal. There are four different curl patterns that you should be aware of in order to proceed with the right cut and care. The first is loose/waves – These soft, less defined curls tend to fall in big, shiny waves. When loose hair is cut short it can look straighter; longer styles become curlier. Think Sarah Jessica Parker for loose curls.

The second curl pattern – curly - fall into 1-1 ½” wide tendrils. “Curly curls” tend to have a lot of volume making your hair seem coarse, but actually almost 99% of all curls are fine. These curls tighten when short and loosen when longer. Keri Russell’s an example of someone with beautiful curly locks.

Then there is the tight pattern; a mixture of 1/2″ to 1″ wide curls throughout the hair. Tightly wound, but not as tiny as the Kinky curls, tighter curls tend to dry out and frizz up more than loose curls, so Ouidad has a moisturizing product line to take your tight curls from dry to brilliant. The fourth and final pattern is kinky – These are tiny ringlets and probably the most fragile of all curls. These ringlets can look like an “S” or a “Z” or both. Resist the urge to tie it back in a pony-tail, this causes terrible breakage. Superstar Jada Pinkett-Smith sports a kinky style here.
