It’s hard to overestimate what pop sensation Justin Bieber has done for the collective hair consciousness of boys and—dare we say – men, of a certain age! Over the past few years the long “side-swept bangs look” has been sweeping the nation, to say the least! And no one is prouder than Ouidad to know that even wavy and curly-haired guys are getting in on the super-shaggy style that requires just a little gel and a whole lot of attitude to pull off.

So if you’ve already got the cool factor but are still searching for how to hold it all together, Ouidad Tress Effects Styling Gel is the perfect lightweight formula to keep masculine curls soft, smooth and in place while you skillfully flip your hairstyle from over the eye all day long.

To apply, first rake fingers through the under layers of your curls. Then, beginning at the crown, rake downward towards the curls’ ends; then rake the product through your hair starting at the temples and forehead and down to the crown of your head. This ensures that the product is worked evenly through your hair. Then, still using your fingers as a comb, direct your curls forward and angle over your forehead and eyes. Finally, stand back and check yourself out!  Admit it; Ouidad makes guys look good with bangs!

Curls in California : Ouidad Considers Curly Disney Hair!

Walt Disney opened his visionary Disneyland on July 17, 1955, in Anaheim, California, and it has been a place full of magic and excitement ever since! So Ouidad thought it would be fun to look at the wonderful world of Disney from a curly hair perspective … specifically, how does Disney and curly hair relate?

To start with, in Disney’s classic animated films, curly and wavy-haired princesses run rampant! There’s Snow White with her short, black curls (typically held back by a headband), Cinderella with her blond curls piled high, and Ariel with her long, red (and often wet!) waves.

Likewise, some of Disney’s original Mouseketeers on TV had adorable curly hair. The most famous and popular member of the original Mickey Mouse Club, Annette Funicello, was idolized for her spunky brunette curls and her perky personality. More recently, on The All New Mickey Mouse ClubJustin Timberlakes curls stood out and impressed viewers!

It’s funny, even though Disney seemed to favor the long, wavy-haired male characters—particularly princes—in its films, they apparently were not too fond of them in real life: until the late 1960s, male visitors sporting long hair were stopped at the gates at Disneyland, and politely informed that they did not meet the standards of Disneylands unwritten dress code…that means some of our favorite California surfer men from today, like Matthew McConaughey, would not have been admitted. The horror!

Today, fortunately, people with all hair lengths, curls and types are welcomed into the park. And Ouidad is sure that the curly fans of our Ouidad products will manage to keep their hair looking gorgeous–even after a ride on Space Mountain!

Here at Ouidad we love a good comedy, especially one with a curly-guy as the leading man! So we have certainly been following the career (and the curls) of Zach Galifianakis for some time.  Zach has worked as a writer and actor since the ‘90s, but his big break into mainstream movies came in the 2009 film The Hangover.

The brilliant comedian and North Carolina native has worked his way to leading man, starring in the recent hit, Due Date, in which he plays a struggling actor from Atlanta who has permed his hair and changed his name to “Ethan Tremblay,” in hopes of achieving Hollywood stardom.

Zach keeps really busy; he also stars in the HBO hit series Bored to Death in which he plays a comic book artist; he is also the voice of Humpty Dumpty in the major 2011 release of Puss in Boots. And yes, for all you Hangover fans, Zach is currently filming The Hangover 2!

So while Zach’s character in Due Date wears a pseudonym and that perm, Zach’s down to earth personality–and his wavy hair–are 100% natural. Congrats, Zach, on all your twisted success!
