Ouidad: The Curl Experts

You’ve seen it, right? The TV commercial for an SUV featuring one boy in a “lame” car and another in a “cool” sports utility vehicle? Sure, it’s meant to sell cars, but what caught Ouidad’s attention was the fact that both boys have excellent curls!

The young fellow trapped in the “regular” car with his parents—who are repeatedly and hilariously harmonizing to “Angel of the Morning”—is a curly clad red-head. His curls are medium length and loose…in other words, he’s adorable! Our favorite part is when, with panic in his eyes, he mouths the words “help me” to his curly counterpart in the SUV!

Then there’s the Krly Kid in the SUV; he’s blond, his curls are long and he is seriously cool. (Plus his bomber jacket is super-stylish, compared to the turtleneck and sweater on the poor, captive red-head.) We love his hair…and apparently many other people do too! It turns out that the boy in the SUV is actually a well-known young actor, Riley Thomas Stewart!

Young Mr. Stewart has appeared on television shows such as “House,” “Criminal Minds” and “How I Met Your Mother” (as a young Barney, the character played by Neil Patrick Harris). He actually just finished making his second movie, The Lucky One, which will star Zac Efron. And you’ll see him in the soon-to-be-released The Beaver with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster!

We look forward to seeing more from this talented young actor…and in the meantime we’ll keep enjoying those luscious curls on TV.

It’s the summer wedding season! A time of love, sweetness and sometimes a little bit of craziness, as we saw portrayed in the early summer hit movie Bridesmaids. Somewhere between curly kids and curly adults reside today’s curly teens. Unfortunately, some teens with curls are uncomfortable with their hair and either straighten it or wear it in a ponytail on a regular basis. The teens in this clip recognized that they had been a bit self-conscious about their hair, but once they learned how to manage their curls, as one curly teen shared, styling “was easier. I knew what I was doing. I knew I felt confident about my hair so it was just a better experience.” Those words are magic to Ouidad’s ears!
