When your curly kid was just a curly baby, life seemed easier…at bath time you would shampoo your little one, put on a dollop of conditioner and sing a happy bath song. Then you would comb his or her hair, style it and be done.

Now, however, if you’ve got an older curly kid who is developing some opinions and a bit of—shall we say—an attitude, you face new struggles through this phase of their hair care. Perhaps your child refuses to shampoo or to let you comb his or her hair, or they hate the style that you favor. Dealing with these battles day in and day out can get exhausting!

That’s exactly why Ouidad designed her KRLY Kids collection. KRLY Kids No Time for Tears shampoo gently cleanses without stinging or irritating … plus curly kids love that it’s named just for them! It’s so gentle that your child can use it without Mom or Dad’s help. (Same goes for our KRLY Kids No More Knots conditioner!) Allowing your child to wash, condition and comb his or her own hair is a good way to make hair care time less argumentative!

Likewise, when it comes to styling, it is important to give your child some “say” in the matter. Offer choices, but keep the number of options to a minimum—and make all the choices ones that you will be happy with—and everyone feels like a winner!

Hopefully, with a little expert help from Ouidad, you’ll be able to navigate these years of growing “independence” with ease … at least in the hair care arena!

You could say that Albert Einstein was a pretty busy guy…between developing his Theories of Relativity (you know, E=mc2) and winning the Nobel Prize in 1921 for his ground-breaking work on the photoelectric effect, he was perhaps the foremost physicist of the 20th century. So…with everything on his mind, we figure that he may not have had the time to think much about his hair!
Looking back at photos of Mr. Einstein’s hair, four W’s come to mind: wispy, wavy, white … and way out of control! So what would we at Ouidad recommend to Mr. Einstein if he were alive today?

Well, for starters, while we know that he was a great genius, it’s our theory that Albert Einstein’s hair was very fine, flat and dry. We think that shampooing with PlayCurl Volumizing Shampoo would add some life and create some much-needed volume; plus, it would leave his hair shiny and manageable! Next, we’d recommend conditioning with Ouidad’s Balancing Rinse Essential Daily Conditioner, to revive his dull, damaged locks.

Finally, we’d ask the Father of Modern Physics to spritz with a little Styling Mist, so when he’s presenting a paper to fellow scientists or just reading in his library, Mr. Einstein’s hair would stay put and look great all day long!

Of course it’s all academic – but if he didn’t like his new look – well, you don’t need to be a genius to know that Ouidads products are versatile and fun to mix and match! To quote the great man himself: “A person who never made a mistake – never tried anything new.” (!)

Curls in California : Ouidad Considers Curly Disney Hair!

Walt Disney opened his visionary Disneyland on July 17, 1955, in Anaheim, California, and it has been a place full of magic and excitement ever since! So Ouidad thought it would be fun to look at the wonderful world of Disney from a curly hair perspective … specifically, how does Disney and curly hair relate?

To start with, in Disney’s classic animated films, curly and wavy-haired princesses run rampant! There’s Snow White with her short, black curls (typically held back by a headband), Cinderella with her blond curls piled high, and Ariel with her long, red (and often wet!) waves.

Likewise, some of Disney’s original Mouseketeers on TV had adorable curly hair. The most famous and popular member of the original Mickey Mouse Club, Annette Funicello, was idolized for her spunky brunette curls and her perky personality. More recently, on The All New Mickey Mouse ClubJustin Timberlakes curls stood out and impressed viewers!

It’s funny, even though Disney seemed to favor the long, wavy-haired male characters—particularly princes—in its films, they apparently were not too fond of them in real life: until the late 1960s, male visitors sporting long hair were stopped at the gates at Disneyland, and politely informed that they did not meet the standards of Disneylands unwritten dress code…that means some of our favorite California surfer men from today, like Matthew McConaughey, would not have been admitted. The horror!

Today, fortunately, people with all hair lengths, curls and types are welcomed into the park. And Ouidad is sure that the curly fans of our Ouidad products will manage to keep their hair looking gorgeous–even after a ride on Space Mountain!
