We Wish They All Could Have Curly Heads of Haiiiir…!

Wednesday, 17 March 2010 by Linda

The song California Girls has lived on in music history long after it first hit the airwaves in 1965. While the Beach Boys (who hail from Hawthorne, California) wrote the song for all you west coast gals, Ouidad wants to also celebrate the Curly Californian guys too!

We’ve given the girls pointers on how to keep curls looking fabulous in the warm California sun. Guys however, have a different set of concerns. Here is some advice for dudes with curls, because Ouidad knows that men can wear their curls long or short, and still look great. Especially while out enjoying the surf! (We know surfers start pretty early out west.)

Whether you’re taking a trip to Venice or hiking the Half Dome in Merced, you need to keep your curls from becoming too frizzy. Use our Climate Control, a product that works with the temperature to maintain your locks. Or, if you’re looking for a classic pomade, try our Clear Control Styling Glaze, which is packed with conditioners to control frizzy, fly-away curls!

Want more guidance or looking for a new curly look? Visit us at our Santa Monica salon where we, of course, also cater to men! Actually, ‘we wish you all could be California curlyyyyy-men!’

In that modern-day Cinderella-tale, Roberts won the hearts of audiences everywhere. And naturally, here at Ouidad we lost our hearts to her natural, cascading curls!

Get ‘Lost’ in Evangeline Lilly’s Enduring Curls

Friday, 5 March 2010 by Linda

The end of the final season of the hit series Lost will undoubtedly leave its avid fans with a major void.  What will we at Ouidad miss the most? Could it be admiring Evangeline Lilly’s fabulous island curls? The series premiered in 2004 and has captured audiences ever since.

Lilly’s character, Kate, has been a fan favorite since the very beginning, and with that hair it’s no surprise! What does she have to say about her character’s look?

“My character, Kate, wears basically the same clothes all the time and her hair is just the way it is when I get out of bed in the morning.”

If that’s her “bed head look,” then we give her curls a standing ovation!

The actress, who was actually discovered on the street by a Ford Modeling agent, is often associated with her fabulous beach hair. Want to snag Lilly’s (or Kate’s) look?  Start with our PlayCurl Volumizing Shampoo which will liven up any limp locks.  Follow up with our PlayCurl conditioner and the leave-in Sun Shield, a must have for any stranded island gal who is taking a beating from the sun and surf! Style with some PlayCurl Volumizing Foam and voila! You’ve got hair that can withstand tropical rains and whatever may be lurking in those woods!

Julianna Margulies Has Golden Globe Winning Curls

Friday, 26 February 2010 by Linda

The red carpet can be a source of anxiety for any celebrity, and just add a steady rain to that equation and things can get pretty hairy. The 2010 Golden Globe Awards fell on an exceptionally wet night in Hollywood. (Who says it Never Rains in California?)

So what did it mean for this year’s winner for Best Actress in a Television Series, the curly-clad Julianna Margulies? Lots of concerns about maintaining her fashionable frizz-free curls!

The ER alum won a Golden Globe for her work on the new series The Good Wife, but her real challenge was trying to shelter her curls from that hazardous drizzle! She reported:

“I actually went in the back way and just came into where it was tented because with my hair, if I was in the rain I would just be a frizz ball by the end of the night”

Ouidad’s Golden Globe solution for Julianna’s curls quandary? Climate Control!  Our heat-activated European Wheat Protein shields hair and breathes with humidity. What could be better for a moisture-filled evening full of hungry photographers?

Congratulations to Margulies on a much deserved win; keep flaunting those fabulous curls, rain or shine!

Have A Bad Curly Case Of The Frizzies? Ouidad Helps Fight The Frizz!

Wednesday, 24 February 2010 by Brandhi

Sure, it’s cold and windy. But don’t be so quick to blame the state of your hair on the state of the weather! Here are a few styling tips from Ouidad that you can incorporate right now to calm the frizz that comes with the season:

image002Thanks to naturallycurly.com for the Image

1. Shampoo only as often as your kinky curl pattern dictates.  It is always best to use your fingertips to massage your scalp and run your fingers downward to detangle curls.  But if you must comb your curls, be sure to use a wide-toothed comb. And only do so when hair is wet, being careful not to yank at tangled hair.

2. If you towel dry, be gentle, and do not over-handle your hair. Your natural curl pattern can quickly turn to frizz if your curls are touched too harshly or too often while they are drying.

3. When possible, keep your curls in the shade during  hot weather. Avoid excessive heat whenever possible, including shampooing or rinsing with very hot water, or using hot rollers, curling irons, straightening irons, blow dryers… or any other instruments of curly torture!

4. And if you simply cannot resist the chlorinated water of the swimming pool, remember to wear a snug-fitting swimming cap—and don’t be shy about doubling up if you have to. But then, after all, remember that there’s always Ouidad’s Climate Control to help block out excess humidity, and help fight the frizz!
